Brief History Of “Bucegi” Mountain Troops Training Base – Predeal
November 1st 1981 The Improving COs and NCOs Warfare Readiness Center for the Mountain Troopshas been established on. Later on, the initial institution became, starting June 1st 1997, The Mountain Training School.
August 1st 2002, the Mountain Warfare Training Center replaced the old school.
In 2007, as a recognition of the high training level performed by our institution, the International Association of the Military Mountain Schools (IAMMS) received the Romanian Army, represented by us, as an observer member of the Association. Starting with September 1st 2008, the Mountain Troops Training Base replaced the Mountain Warfare Training Center. March 2009, the International Association of the Military Mountain Schools (IAMMS) received the Romanian Army, represented by Mountain Troops Training Base, as a full member of the Association.
Basic Mission / Main Tasks
Ensuring the mountain troopers’ training through perfection courses
- Forming the officers, NCOs and soldiers as mountain trooper specialists and also initial and follow-up training for militaries within MT units;
- Follow-up perfection and training for officers and NCOs in order to accomplish superior positions after graduation the career courses;
- Forming ski and climbing instructors for MT units and other military structures;
- Ski and climbing special training for personnel coming from MT units as well as other military structures;
- Organizing military-applicative competitions specific to the MT’s;
- The applicative research within the MT branch, the rules and regulations’ accomplishment;
- Providing special consultancy regarding to the training and performance of mountainous military actions, evaluation of the performance standard fulfillment for operational MT units;
- Protection and preservation of the cultural and historic heritage of the MT’s.
